Basic arotherm install.

Hi im thinking about a temp install of my heat pump to put some heat into the slab. My timber frame is sitting on an insulated slab and water is pooling under the sole plate. In winter it prob is not drying out under there. Going to start to seal the house up to limit water ingress. I though it might be worth hooking the heatpump up to the ufh to try and dry the soleplate.

 

My system has about 70 litres of water in the pipes. Im looking at connecting the arotherm straight to the ufh manifold, from the diagram the only thing extra I think i need is an expansion vessel. Does that sound right. I was hoping the Vaillant heat pump would be able to pump the water round the circuit using its internal pump.

 

It might be worth adding insolation valves both ends of my temp pipe so I can try and save some of the expensive antifreeze/inhibitor

We've recently had an Arotherm installed. It's a very straightforward system and the only circulation pump is the one in the heat pump. I did't get very involved but there is a pressure release valve and as you say an expansion vessel. All boxed in now so cant take pictures to help more.

You need to consider risk v reward.

 

Flours get wet during a build, how much drying you will get done with an unsealed house...

 

Frozen pipes in floor, you need antifreeze in the water.

 

You need to set system up exactly as you would when it is normally active.

 

So, Expansion vessel, pressure relief, filter/strainer, then ASHP directly coupled to UFH is fine, you don't need mixers etc anyway.

Yes, usual feed/expansion. Also at least a Y-strainer on the return, see this FB thread for denial of warranty support if not fitted even for unrelated faults. Distinctly unimpressive.
