AppleQueen Posted November 26 Share Posted November 26 Hi! I’m a bit confused by the criteria for the ASHP grant on the .gov website. Is it true that as a self build we will be eligible for the grant even if we aren’t replacing a gas boiler (because there’s no heating system there at all currently as it’s completely new)? Because you have to meet minimum building regs anyway. Plus you don't have to await a the building being complete, before installing the heating. OFGEM states on their web page - important bit in bold and underlined "EPC eligibility An energy performance certificate (EPC) gives information about a property’s energy use, with recommendations on how to reduce energy demand and save money. It’s required every time you buy, sell or rent a property. Before we approve any grant application, we check that a property has a valid EPC that was issued within the last 10 years. Which I assume the installer sends something into the grant scheme . Maybe not . As he was the mcs installer and set me up for eligibility for the scheme I saw no reason to query it . From the scheme now I just get the annual confirmation that nothing has changed so that I am still eligible. My mcs installer for the record was recommended on this forum .
