PLK-UK
We are building a high end residential project where the employer have identified group of electrical outlets and the dimensions between each socket. We have done a great job which does not disturb the nature of high end job but the client's architect snagged each and everyone claiming there are zero tolerance for dimensions between each sockets and levels of socket groups. Can you let me know which British Standard should I use to refute this snags as I believe every installation has a tolerance in UK. Thanks in advance. Alan Ambrose
Sounds BS to me. Ask them for a copy of the standard or reg?
JohnMo
Nothing has zero tolerance. Building regs has a minimum and maximum height those are the tolerances. So no less than or no more than. Unless a client supplied drawing states something about a tolerance between fittings heights in different room?
GavH
I have never seen a British Standard that had binding tolerances. There are Max and Min Dimensions but these are not tolerance's (even thought a lot use them that way for easy). Tolerance can be anything the client/architect has put on the drawings. And if they have put Zero ask them how they intend to measure an exact size, as most of the worlds scientific community would love to know that too. Since this is a high end build, does the client have a bespoke wall covering than need the outlets to be in an exact position. The worse tolerance i have ever had to work to was -0,+0.0005 mm on a ground metal component (and there isn't one to many 0's).

Did the drawing have measurements on it or did you scale ?
