jack1962 Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Hi Can you use the normal wall ties for movement joints on timber frame build,,, STF50
Mr Punter Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Slip ties may be better, with a sleeve on one side where you have a vertical movement joint in a panel. For tying to the frame, the normal timber frame ties will be OK.
Canski Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Normal ties don’t allow for movement. In a movement joint you need slip ties.
Brickie Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 +1 Treat the movement joint as you would a door or window reveal with the ties in to the frame @225 vertical spacing both sides of the mj.
