Bournbrook
Hi all. Just got planning for a new build in our garden with a driveway running down the side f of current house. The current driveway is gravel and already travels up the side of the current house to a garage to the rear. On the technical site plan that was submitted with planning it shows a permeable block paving driveway as we wanted to minimise noise to the current house. However, we would now like to ideally do gravel due to cost reasons. The block paving is not stated as a condition and there is no mention of it on the officers report. Does anyone know if we now have to do block paving as it was on our plans? Or can we use any permeable surface?
Alan Ambrose
You might be able to slip it into fulfilment of a condition - do you have to confirm materials, planting etc? Or the straight forward way is to file a non-material amendment - no rush as presumably you'll do this near the end?

We also have to submit a surface and foul water drainage plan. If gravel were stated in this would it supersede the block paving states before? DevilDamo
The condition which reads “the development has to be carried out in accordance with the approved drawings” kind of answers your question.

We tweaked our plans against the submitted whilst clearing the condition to just state ‘permeable surface’ as opposed to resin. I’m 100% certain that planning either won’t care or notice as long as it’s ’permeable’.
