Post and beam
On a practical level. How is the delivery of service ducts up into the house done when using a block & beam construction? I imagine one of the blocks is cut in some way. Only because removing one completely has got to be incorrect. Thinking of electricity and Broadband specifically to the front of the house today but guess its the same for all the other Ducts.

Lay plywood cut to fit what gaps you can, and anything else in the fiddly bits..eg expanded metal or sponge. Mix up some concrete and infill. Post and beam
That'll work, thanks. I did wonder if there is such a thing as a 'cut out' block already done so to speak.

It would actually be better to use a cement of plastic board as, theoretically, the plywood could rot above a damp void.
Alan Ambrose
For elec & fibre etc, I would think a diamond core drill would zip through the block easily enough. Waste pipe might be a bit more of a challenge but doable.
Dave Jones
grinder and cut a knotch out of 2 blocks so the block still has bearing onto the beam. Sewer pipes need to be haunched at the rest bend so there will be some conc for the cut block to bear on as well.
