Post and beam
We would like to provide power into our proposed Kitchen island. For a 2 gang 13A outlet and also a Cooker feed at a higher current rating. Is it acceptable to run the cable under the screed in with the UFH pipework? Thanks in advance as always keith
Thorfun
We ran in conduit in the screed. Sparky was fine with it. I’d say check with yours in case cable size needs to be increased.
JohnMo
Just now, Thorfun said: We ran in conduit in the screed. Sparky was fine with it. I’d say check with yours in case cable size needs to be increased. Me also, but make sure you pin it down to the insulation, as it will start floating upwards if you don't - been there, done it. You are likely need 6mm2 (or bigger if on a long run) for your cooker and a separate feed for you sockets, (so not small conduit) and UFH pipes possibly in the same space so make sure you have enough screed depth to cover everything. Also if the run of conduit is long or has bends in it makes sure you pre install a draw string to make life easier later.
Kelvin
How deep will your screed be? I put ours in a large duct when we were doing the groundwork. Our hob is on the island along with the dishwasher and Quooker so we needed a suitable cable for the hob and a separate cable for power.
Thorfun
Actually we put our conduit within the insulation under the screed so didn’t have to worry about depth of screed. sorry, forgot about that!
