Is it ok to seal around multilayer pipe with silicone sealant? 

I read on uponor's website that you should not use silicone sealant on there multilayer pipes as it can damage the pipe.  

 

I've sealed loads of  pipe penetrations in my house with silicone  and never knew this.

I have never heard this but on the other hand not needed to seal around multilayer pipes. Why do you need to seal, what do you mean by penetrations? I would follow manufacturer’s advice and use an acrylic sealant.
