mossy
Hi we have a second floor small flat which we rent. It has one shower (electric), no bath and a basin in the bathroom and kitchen. So the demand for HW is minimal. At the moment the HW is a direct (no gas) vented tank (photo attached) above which sits a large header tank on a metal frame. The water flow is pitiful and the system takes up a lot of cupboard space. I am familiar with non vented tanks and have one in our own house. However Im not sure about one in the flat because of managing the Tundish and the only option would be to plumb it into the communal soil stack. However some say NO NO and other say perhaps depending on the plastic of the soil stack. I can't find an EN number on it so polyethylene or polypropylene ?? Would another option be an instant hot water system fed by mains pressure cold water ?? Mossy

Susie
If you can not access the shower only or you have poor pressure in all the flat consider a whole house pump. https://www.salamanderpumps.co.uk/ it gives lots of help and examples. Alan Ambrose
Yeah we have a Stuart Turner dual flow pump (pumps both hot and cold) after the tank for this reason and it works well and has been going for 30 years. Ask the landlord to pay? You would want to ditch the shower pump also then.
mossy
Thanks everyone. I am the landlord. There is nothing wrong with the shower it’s electric and works fine. Im trying to get rid of the large header tanks which feeds the HW cylinder and supplies two basins. One option I think is to fit a non vented tank ? This would get rid of the header tank and supply HW at mains pressure ? There is nothing wrong with the shower
JohnMo
Have a look at Harlequin cylinders. They have a mains pressure coil, so supply water at main pressure. Do not need an overhead tank or any overflows. Or UVC, you need access to drain point for its safety devices. Or local hot water on demand cylinder in sink and at basin. Or something like https://www.cylinders2go.co.uk/shop/uncategorised/comet-by-telford-10-litre-stainless-steel-1-5kw-undersink-heater/
