Gill
I'd like to pick up one of these up for domestic use. I looked at hire which seems expensive unless you can condense to a single short hire. I think we'll have plenty of use for one over the next 6 months of renovation. Given resale value (at least for flir) seems decent it might be more cost effective to buy and sell on when we're done. Mostly will be used for trying to find heat loss areas (internal, attic, under suspended floor) and assess any improvement as we try to remidiate over time. Ease of use would be a plus as the inlaws also looking to get use. Any advise from folk who have used would be appreciated. Alternatives to flir or any brands /models to avoid? PNAmble
We’ve just got a hicmicro B01. Works well. Using it to check for cold bridging and completeness of insulation now the frame is up. Deliberately kept away from one which attaches to our iPhones partly because the iPhone adaptor is moving to usb C.
Gill
Thanks @PNAmble Will check that out. I also wanted to avoid phone attachment as I'm not convinced it'll be compatible with the inlaws Nokia3310. 😁
SimonD
I have a Topdon TC001. It's between £230 & £280 on Amazon. I used it a lot for work. Very happy with it. Really small but you need to choose either the TC001 with usb c or TC002 for IOS. Some images: 4
TheMitchells Posted Tuesday at 15:37 Share Posted Tuesday at 15:37 I am looking at the Hikmicro E01 for £150 on amazon, to help with pinpointing draughts and areas to insulate. Seems like a good price. Has anyone else used this model and have any comments on its usefulness? thanks. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HIKMICRO-Resolution-Portable-Handheld-4°F-752°F/dp/B0CF28BNNX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=ZPGQA3WQ5MEG&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.YfdGjI2352XpUVfZnQQHiFnUM529sTpUtPF3RYROj6jprm_fR3Snu7U4nFUfGiZ-Uz8LpW--dDw6lwP9ZaQKb8W6PdvDolxyc9td14GvgxXt5wMgfjURPB_atmHUUlpejRu_PZqf45VYg-DjBCbKIQb2JpZ-X87nmQFxIyNT637_VZwwGEzExisKlHPat_hMIlJd8KqGFLoEaiHdTZZoFYxHbq0UvdMRWZEH_Fq14rl2w9AH4_u4FFChdFOx4Up59v2MjRMQTZlCOKtSwyqfW8VWU1PwJJeapBGNxwGV_r4.7QJtPucxVTMXkNrgiTDqorIsygWrznAFZPgCcTcGT1o&dib_tag=se&keywords=hikmicro+e01&nsdOptOutParam=true&qid=1732030174&sprefix=%2Caps%2C81&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=
