Masking oak frame for plastering

Morning all,

We are having our oak frame garage plastered in a couple of weeks.

Would it be work masking the timber off to avoid it getting covered in plaster?

Not sure if plaster ends up on the wood will it stain/ mark it?

If so are there any pointers for cost effective masking? Normal tape seems to peel off the wood after a short time!
