rob1234 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Hi Im removing the 225mm solid wall up to the wall plate and need steel calculation for the steel size the opening its 2300mm wide and Im thinking of doing a loft conversion after and its on the corner of the bungalow so ive been told i have to come in 600mm from internal wall does anyone have any drawings detailing how far in from the corners and wall plate detail that i can use as an example. Kind regards, Rob
Mr Punter Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Can you post a drawing? What is the steel supporting? Part A of the Building Regs approved docs may be worth a browse.
Dave Jones Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 150 high 100 wide with 285ish bottom plate welded on.
rob1234 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 thank you for your replies, Ive already built the extension and the new joists are sitting on the original wall plate with the existing bungalow joists do i still need the flat plate to be 285mm plate on the steel or can it be 2 steels bolted together
TonyT Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 You will need a structural engineer’s input to get sign off for building control purposes
