jayc89 Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Looking for a pretty basic loft hatch, doesn't need to be massive, or have integrated ladders, purely for access only, and I very rarely plan to be in that part of the roof space. Preferably something that's airtight and has some level of insulation incorporated. Any recommendations?
elite Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 I went with one of these easy enough to fit once you have the correct opening https://www.jupiterblue.co.uk/loft-hatches-c2/standard-range-c9/airtight-loft-hatch-560-x-640mm-hinged-patented-design-p221 1 1

It says their most efficient hatch as 100mm PIR bonded to it, whereas their cheapest uses 65mm "foam". I have plenty of 100mm offcuts kicking around, do you think it would be reasonable to buy the cheapest, rip off the foam and bond a length of PIR to it?

Don't see why not, IIRC the PIR is just glued with the edges taped with silver tape to protect them
