Concrete mix for laying concrete editing blocks.

Hi,

 

I’m going to lay some concrete edging (915mm x 150mm x50mm ) in the next few days. I’ve seen a few videos where the concrete is quite dry under the concrete edging blocks and then wetter for the hatching. Is this what I should be aiming for?
