I've just spotted that our builders seem to have taken an angle grinder to joist hangers in the roof rather than use ones with a cup of the correct depth  The cuts they've made will substantially weaken the hanger I think?! 

 

Is this an issue we need to get them back for.?

Struggling to work out the orientation of the close ups, is this where the rafters meet the wall plate or rafters to ridge?

To me it looks like a 45’ join, timber at the angle of the roof? Odd!

It looks like a ceiling joist connected to a purlin. Eg the room below is a room in the roof with part sloping ceiling.

 

I think it's probably OK provided the ceiling joists aren't triangulating the roof.

As I recall the builders felt the roof needed some extra restraints, so they're semi-structural. Think I'm going to see if Building Control will come and take a look before we seal anything up..!
