RichS Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 A question for anyone who has used an insulated foundation and then built in ICF. I assume, as I haven't got my foundation design drawings yet, that the insulated foundation will have 100mm wide perimeter upstand, but Polarwall use an 80/150/80mm construction. So where the wall meets the slab there will be a 20mm difference in the external wall line. How have people overcome this obstacle??
Vijay Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 You can use different thickness of board with Polarwall, so you could easily have a 100mm board on the outside. Maybe give Alan a call as I'm sure he'd be able to help
RichS Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 Thanks Vijay, I think there's only the two of us using ICF
le-cerveau Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 We used econekt who do both foundations and walls so the 2 lock together. WE have 250mm thick outer insulation, 150mm concrete and 50mm internal so 450 overall before finishes! The econekt foundation upstand is adjusted as appropriate.
RichS Posted July 23, 2017 Author Posted July 23, 2017 Hi @le-cerveau. Just had a look at Econekt site. It mentions that it pours it's floor slabs at 250mm, is that correct?? Seems a bit like overkill to me but perhaps there is some reason.
