Ok I would go back and confirm with them as they are normally pretty good and this may just be an oversight.

I spoke to the joist designer and he said they went the size below so they wouldn’t be taller than my RSJ.

They stated as long as they are more than 2/3s of the depth of the joist they are fine.

Rang the building inspector and he was happy with this if Pasquills confirmed

I had a pasquill floor, they specified noggins between the joist ends to stop rotation. Did they send you a floor plan?

Hi all (again)

Have a couple more questions if anyone could help

I need to fix my strong backs with 3.1x75mm long galvanised ring shank nails but when I put them in google all I get is the paslode nails. Could anyone recommend any similar suitable ones from Screwfix /toolstation… I found these are these suitable?

Next question, I need to put noggins between a few joists to support a stud wall above. I think I need something called z brackets, are these them?

Will standard CLS 63 x 38mm

timber be suffice for this?

sorry for the simple questions but I want to make sure it’s done right

Many Thanks

Screwfix are expensive for nails in my experience,  I've used this company. https://bulldogfix.com/collections/framing-nails  good nails at a decent price.

For noggins supporting walls I skew nailed them into place, those strongties look good as a manufactured alternative.

The noggins I used came with the floor as a kit but 38x63 is about right, or 3"x2" equivalent would be bomber IMO.

Hope that helps

Just realised you might not have a nail gun in which case screwfix nails are fine. I'd use 90mm long.

Not being that skilled, I really appreciate the screws that come with a head that is so precisely made that the screw sits on (even under) the head as if magnetised.

And an ultra sharp point

Philips Ulti-mate my favourite.

Leaves another hand free to hold on to the ladder, and don't drop many.
