I was just browsing through my MVHR stats, wondering how often the preheater had been on in this cold snap and it would appear that it's not been on at all, well at least for the last week which I find quite surprising.

I then see that it has 4 different settings: OFF - AUTO - LOCK CURRENT - LOCK MAXIMUM.

Of course mine is set to 'OFF' the problem I have is that I can't find any way of selecting it to 'AUTO' not on the wall mounted control unit, the app or the web access. Does anyone have any idea how I can set my preheater to 'AUTO'?

Also, how much preheater activity have others seen in these current conditions? Does it come on just now and again or is it on almost permanently?

Daft question but I'll ask it anyway: is a preheater definitely fitted? I'm just wondering if the lack of an adjustable setting might mean it isn't (or perhaps just not connected, or not recognised due to some other reason)

That very same thought had crossed my mind. Pretty sure it is, but I've not laid eyes on it so who knows! Just trying to fathom that out now..

Hmm... It does say 'modular' though which might indicate it being something you add/remove... But, yeah, I'd assume it was present unless caveated with 'optional' or something similar.

Depending on how efficient your heat exchanger is, in UK temperature they are not needed, maybe why it's not coming on.  We had -9 the other day and the antifreeze function never even came on, as far as I could see.

@JohnMo yeah, good point. I couldn’t find any data regarding temperature/humidity when it would activate but even so it appears to be off with no way (that I can see) of setting it to auto

Ours has twice this week for an hour or so overnight. Both incoming and outgoing air streams were below freezing so the unit lowered the supply fan speed to avoid freezing up the heat exchanger.
