Asbestos Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hi, Just wondering what peoples views are on using a timber frame supplier vs building the frame myself in regards to costs ? I am yet to run the costs on this, but imagine I would be able to frame a 4 bed house more cost effectively than using a timber framed supplier to fabricate the wall sections. Has any hands on self builder run the sums on this ?
Thedreamer Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I stick built in 2018-2020 and prices are currently a little more expensive. I listed my total costs in the blog entry below. 1
saveasteading Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Stick built is a lot cheaper, if you have the joiner that can do it. Esp for a non standard design. But of course you need design, buying, more time, management, risk.
SteamyTea Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Build a large shed, then make a jig to enable corner angles to be true, then start nailing up panels. Be up in no time.
