File to sharpen a pruning saw

Recommended Posts

My good (Kent and Stowe) pruning saw requires a sharpen.

Slightly torn about whether to just replace since they are only 10-15 ukp.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable file and where to get one. I think I need a narrow angle diamond profile file - a thing called a "Cant" file.

It's more likely that the set on the teeth is out which makes it feel dull.  You could resharpen it but tbh I would bin it and buy a new one for £10.

I have two pruning saws - a £20 one that gets used for general work including roots, and a £90 Silky that I guard with my life and that is amazing .... the difference is the tooth set, as the Silky is set with no external edges so it doesn't jam and is very clean cutting.
