Ando Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 When looking in my eaves earlier regarding another post I have made - I found this! Any ideas what has caused this? I’m assuming wind will have something to do with it? 1
jayc89 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Was it blown in as a secondary thought? If you shift it out of the way, can you see down the cavity (i.e. is it not closed)?
Ando Posted October 31, 2022 Author Posted October 31, 2022 I have no idea, I didn’t have time to further investigate - will take a deeper look next week. Just wondered if this is common occurrence etc..
Iceverge Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 The cavity wall EPS bead installers have not closed the cavity properly before pumping it. Under the corner of that pile you'll find a hole into the cavity. EPS beads can degrade the plasticiser in electrical cables so check to see if any are buried underneath. This may be more of a theoretical problem than a real one. Assuming there's not any in contact if just take a rake or stick and level them out over the attic insulation. Every bit of insulation helps. 1

Expand Judging by the overhanging chunks, they look to have some binder so I'd agree with others that it was blown in like this when the cavities were filled. A wind driven pile would be much flatter and smoother. And every bead would be loose.
