lstevensuk Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Was going to tackle the cut-out through to my new extension this weekend. I was thinking of removing the outside section and putting a single 100x140 Lintel under the wall plate. It would form a kind of door header. Anyone think of a neater idea?
markc Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 If you are not wanting to see the lintel or struggling for head height then a steel angle (galvanised) under the wall plate and up behind it would be neat. do you need a lintel? If the wall plate isn’t supporting anything at that point then it won’t need a lintel

It's just going to be a hallway into new bedroom, head height should still be plenty. Old pic but should show what I mean.
JohnMo Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Not really believing you are doing this without structural engineering input. Or if have it, not following what they are saying to do.
