markharro
Hi I read about this on the (Scottish) loan application form. Our installer has described it as "a device fitted to the ASHP which tallies up the total heat generated from the ASHP unit. This allows you to more easily track the energy produced, energy consumed and efficiency of the ASHP. Its not something we typically install and does not affect the performance of the ASHP, simply just for monitoring. £500 would cover parts and labour for installation" What are the pros and cons over getting one of these meters fitted? thanks
ReedRichards
Under the old RHI scheme you used to get extra payments if you fitted heat metering. The only pro I can see now is that you can better assess your SCoP to tell if your heat pump is performing as specified.
SteamyTea
All data, if collected properly, is useful. The analysis could easily be confusing to some, but that is down to whoever wants to look at it. £500 seems quite expensive, but probably like most of these devices, it is an IoT, where you want it or not. markocosic
PM me your address, bung £30 in the forum kitty, and I'll post you a (non IoT; just local LCD) heat meter...
markocosic
Mmsp package would also include the electricity meter, a gateway to get reads online, and a webservice to monitor both meters and calculate cop for you. £500 for that lot fitted isn't too nasty fwiw. markharro
Hi @markocosic was that offer directed to me? If so thanks but my issue would be that I would lack the tech knowledge to make use of this I think unless there was an easy way to set it up once the ASHP has been installed?
