Happy Valley
Our house is built into a hill. One side has a staircase going up the side of the house. It is L shaped with 3 steps from the bottom to a landing. We are planning on putting a safety rail on the landing. The next flight up has walls to either side. Is there any regulation outdoors for the requirement of a rail up the 1st 3 steps to the landing?
ProDave
I believe any platform or stair less than 600mm above ground does not need a rail. So probably okay on your 3 steps. Surprisingly BC did not pick up any issues with 4 steps up to a patio door here without a handrail, I suspect they knew full well they were temporary for completion and we will be building decking later.
