jimal1969
Hi guys Is a vapour control barrier the same as a damp proof membrane? I’m asking as I have a load left over from my slab and wonder if I can lay it on top of the insulation to be used as the VCL? Would building control be happy? JohnMo
No different stuff. Use the excess DPM for covering sand etc to stop it blowing away or wood to stop it getting damp while waiting to be installed.

Drew1000
Vapour Control Barriers are breathable. DPM is not and should not be used as a VCL
ADLIan
VCL is not breathable, clue is in the name and its function.
Miek
A DPM can be used as VCL. They are both plastic sheets doing the same job, DPM is a heavier gauge.
