Hi, I need to turn off the water at the external stop tap. I've opened the cover and the meter is visible, but there is no stop tap. Does anyone know how to isolate the water in a boundary box like this? I'm sure there is a simple answer but I couldn't work it out!

Have you looked further upstream for a communal stopcock? I linked one of these from eBay, and it did not appear to have any kind of isolation. Been plumbing for nearly 3 decades and I have never encountered  one of these tbh.

These kind of meter boxes often have a removable tool to turn them on or off. Deep down, on the supply side of the meter, there will be a small hex, slot or square shaped fitting that is the top of the valve. Get a torch and have a look down there.
