ToughButterCup Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 I've had a quotation to add a smoke sensor to the system I already have. The quote includes the following text Quote This amount (£237.60) to be paid in advance to cover the Preventative Maintainance to be carried out in the following 12 Months and our Telephone Support 24 hours per day. Call outs and parts are chargeable if not covered by [a] 12 month warranty. Preventive maintenance? 12 months after the installation of a sensor in a new-build?
Mr Punter Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 They love a service contract in the fire industry. Alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, detectors. Makes a nice regular income.
ToughButterCup Posted April 5, 2022 Author Posted April 5, 2022 £20 a month for doing nothing . For a year. During which time the work and goods are subject to consumer law anyway.
TonyT Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Not clear. do you already have a maintenance contract in place for a visit twice a year. if so an extra detector would normally have the installation cost and the uplift for the yearly maintenance as it’s another thing to check. my contracts generally go up 3-5% per year depending on the site, complexity etc. assuming this is a fire alarm system with a panel and not just mains heads.
