markocosic
How difficult is electrofusion to master? I'd like to try this for the ground loops on the heat pumps. Fittings from BES etc are relatively inexpensive. Seems like there's not much to this beyond cleaning, holding, and melting for the appropriate time... Ronan 1
It's relatively simple, most fusion boxes will guide you through the welding. It's all about the pipe prep, problem with doing it as an "amature" is a good looking weld and a bad one can look the same as the collar hides alot. So make sure you hire a suitable sized genny along with the fusion box as the suck up a fair bit of power and if undersized it will cut out mid weld wrecking the joint. When done right it's a great job and stronger than the pipe itself.
Nickfromwales
Cleaning and preparation is the key to success. YouTube should show a few examples.
markocosic
Thanks both, That sounds encouraging enough (not discouraging) to me - I'll buy a bag of fittings and section through some practice ones before burying the final one!
