We have two towel rail style radiators, one has been converted to dual and I'm now thinking of converting the other to electric only. Is it a case of fitting an element and filling with water plus inhibitor?

Someone has mentioned the need o fill it with oil which sounds like a pain in the hoop.

Pretty much yes - get an element that is at least 50% of the height of the rail though as they don’t heat well unless there is a decent length of element in the side rail.

No real need to use inhibitor - get some cheap antifreeze from the motor factors and water that down.

I just used some car anti freeze I had in the garage and tap water.  Leave 50mm air gap for expansion.

Look on eBay I got 3 off Rand new Termo One 400w elements for £28 delivered.
