Right, let us get serious about this.

Rough sketch of the place, with dimensions and roof angles.  Compass orientation as well.

Any chance of a wind turbine?

https://windempowerment.org/the-piggott-turbine/

Ok, here you go. Dont know roof angle exactly, but very shallow. Typical modernish ag building.

I think the wind turbine would be pushing it. Way to visible. Someone will complain. Some will complain about anything. Ground based solar is potentiall possible. Maybe.

So you got about 100m2 of almost south facing roof.

When you get some time, find a sheet of something, insulation would be best.

Get up in the eves and fit it 200mm below the inner roof.  Seal all the edges, cut a hole at the top and the bottom for a small bathroom fan, wait till it is sunny, pump some air though and see what happens temperature wise.

If you can capture 50W.m-2, that is 5 kW.

Going to be up your way, again, again, come the weekend.

Yes, its quite large. But those trees are tall. So in winter the roof loses the sun quite early.

Nice idea. Will need to try that. Wonder what that will produce?.

Are you popping in for a cup of steamy tea?

It is close to what I did for my BSc, about time someone tried it out.  I even had a cheap storage device.

That South facing 21m wall cries out for a bfo Yank style collector wall imho. That's a lot of beer to get drunk! ?

My Ex BiL lives there, about time I visited him after my sister took him for every penny.

Screen collectors are possibly easier than cans. Why not build one as a test bed?

What is the roof and walls made from?

If he has "metal" walls could he paint them black and run pex-al-pex across. Then polycarb sheet over the front. Insulate inside.

Roof is CGI. Walls block, then cladding.

Seems most of the work is already in place.

Just a case of trapping some warmth and shifting it about.
