Dan1983
Morning guys, Not sure if anyone has experience of this but we have stone sills on our build which are formed level. Our windows are now installed and overall look great. Once strange thing (to me) is that they have still used a UPVC sill on top of the stone sill. Being told it’s short projection and required as the sill is formed level. It looks odd to me as forms a double sill. Other widows I’ve looked at don’t seem to have the UPVC sill when using stone sills. Just wanted to check this is normal as ideally I wanted them removed but if it’s due to the stone sill design then they will have to stay
bassanclan
Yes a stub sill is better than sitting the frame directly on the stone sill. It may be counter intuitive, but it is better
Dan1983
Ok thanks for the explanation think I need to go back and check that we are using the shortest sill possible as does not look great at all.

I too thought it strange at the time but had noticed other windows sitting on stone sills to have have had similar "gaps" which gave me confidence to accept them so to speak. Dan1983
Thanks guys, as photo would be fine but my sills protrude past the brickwork. They have used 150mm sills which is where the issue lies. There is an option of 95mm sill which would still clear the lip of the stone sill and stop water getting in etc Ive asked for this to be fitted but not sure if it’s possible. Windows are in but not fully by the looks of things
