kilometres101
Hi, I'm aiming to buy a pull-up bar to install on external block and brick. All standard (as new build can be.) I have two problems. The first and most obvious. There is scant info on the web on how to install. I assume anchor bolts are the way, but putting horizontal force on the brick may cause problems? Is there any benefit in load distribution to drilling through the cavity and into the block? Would it be worth putting something else on the wall to spread the load? This leads me to the other problem. The brick is reclaim effect and however nice, is easily chipped. Does anyone know if the compressive strength is any different on these? Cheers
markc
The load imposed on the bricks depends on the fixing plate size and orientation etc. however, a pull up bar (unless it’s for an elephant isn’t going to put much load into a brick wall …. Unless it cantilevers off a long way. chemical anchors are the best as they do not try to bust the brick open. some details of the bar and I’d be happy to recommend fixing detail

SteamyTea
Don't do any pointing and get some of these. Then do some proper climbing.
