Yeah, I may be wrong but I think it is @dnb who is building in the IOW? There's definitely at least one on here doing so.

We are in Ryde and have been looking for plots for 18 months! How did you find yours? Any advice?

Keep looking. It took us a couple of years to get a plot. Try to get as much done in advance as you can so that you can move quickly on any plots. Scour the property websites as often as possible and be prepared to move disturbingly quickly if it feels right. We offered on ours the day it appeared on right move.
