I think for a bath towel, the idea is that you would use 3-5 of them.  That could be up to 150W . 

 

I agree single ones would be good for hand towels though.

I quite enjoyed this...

 

Our unique self regulating heating element ensures that these rails only reach full operating temperature when the towel is applied.

 

Nothing to do with the insulating properties of the towel then ?

I asked them how this works, didn't get a clear answer.   Wondering though, if 30W is enough to dry a towel...

We have MVHR and towels dry pretty quick with the towel rail off.  I didn't bother turning it on this winter and nobody complained.
