Jamcgee1978 Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Good morning, I was hoping to gain some knowledge and opinion from more experienced landscapers on our project. we are half way into our landscape project and as we have a digger we had always wanted to cut back the slope (clay base) for a retaining wall. My question is 1: what structural support does the slope provide the above garage and driveway? 2. Ive read not to exceed 3-4ft high when planning the wall, is this correct. thanks james

My fingertips are burning just at the thought of putting in a retaining wall there.......
Conor Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 I wouldn't be digging in to that slope at all without putting in sheet piles first, or at least having a survey of the garage founds and soil conditions first. The whole lot could slide in to your garden. You could take about a metre away at the very best... Anything more would be very risky without the above steps.
Jamcgee1978 Posted February 24, 2021 Author Posted February 24, 2021 Thanks for the advice ill get onto a structural engineer first just wanted to check
