Happy Valley
We have planning consent to build within our garden. We are lucky enough to own the current house outright and should not have any issues splitting the freehold. The plan is to sell our existing house and move into the new one. The build commences next month and likely to take 9-12 months. The question is when is the best time to instruct a solicitor to split the freehold title? Oz07
When you sell. Can define all rights, boundaries, obligations etc etc then.

You do this by way of a transfer with the land registry. You can't transfer land you own to yourself. You will transfer the existing house to a new owner and retain the plot for the new house.
