James94
Before I start I’d like a little advice, going to help my sister board her loft out for extra storage space. Here is a picture of her loft I wonder if we could utilise the rafters running down each side by fixing runners to them at a height above insulation and span across and board out just supporting centre all the way down. I know there is those loft storage stilts, not sure how easy these are to use or if worth using any advice would be much appreciated. Regards. ProDave
Slightly. In my previous house, the roof did not lend itself to boarding so I did this: You would obviously need thicker joists to span a wider gap.
James94
This is something like I had in mind, as you say with there’s being a little wider the timbers would have to be beefed up slightly. I see you have nailed to the trusses, will this put any stress on the truss? Im not sure if this would be the best way to go, have you used any of the loft storage stilts and if so how easy are they to use. Regards.
