Richard Willetts
Hi Can anyone suggest a Textured material/paint to cover up an exterior Airlight block wall as opposed to a traditional cement render . The issue is the wall is there is only a10cm gap from a neighbour 6 ft close board fence so a roller on a pole or something needs to be used Any suggestions thankfully appreiciated. MikeGrahamT21
assuming you mean aircrete? celcon/thermalite type blocks? They will need rendering minimum, otherwise water will penetrate and frost could get to them over the years. Can you not ask neighbour if you can remove fence to sort, and then put it back again at your own cost?
Richard Willetts
Thanks Mike Its not possible to take out the fence as the neighbour has all sorts behind their fence such as a shed for their wheelie bins etc. If I were to use concrete type dense blocks would they need a render course? Richard I have spoken to block manufacturers in the past about this, and none will agree that bare blockwork can be left. 7N concrete blocks will stand up better, but i would advise using some type of brick, engineering brick would be ideal and also cheap. The trouble with blocks is they absorb water very easily, so you need something to stop this from happening.
Declan52
A pic would help. Are you just looking this bit covered in to make it look nice or to stop damp etc getting through.
