Recommendations for diy alarm plans please

Just found out that despite previously saying how remote and free from burglaries we have been, some sheds etc have been forced locally and that has got me thinking about an alarm fir my workshop. I am  handy with a soldering iron and understand electrics but I know very little of electronics. Can anyone recommend a site for simple alarms that I can build please.

I guess it depends on budget and how far you wish to go .

By alarm do you mean audible siren or a text to your phone ?

Cheap as chips, F.O. Loud siren and flashy LED (in my existing dummy alarm box), I have a movement sensor and reed relay for the door so just the gubbins to give me “leave” time etc.
