Spons beware

Just sat down and started watching another episode of BTD

The couple have a really good budget of £ 2000 per m2 

They had predicted Via Spons 14k for the foundations on there nice level plot Actual groundwork’s cost 30k So they are up against from the start 

Made us chuckle

Maybe interpreted the book wrong as 14k seems low for groundworks on a 2k per m2 build. Bet you spent 10k on yours?

I thought that 

Very flare plot doest always equal cheap excavation 

 

Spons is just a ball park figure at best 

The problem with Spons is most builders haven’t heard of it 

Yet alone used it to base there quotes on

Ive been in the building trade forty years and running my own company for 35 and had never heard of Spons till coming on the forum

It's not the easiest book to interpret I've had a few looks at it but generally seems to be a going rate for anything. Had 3 scaffold prices recently all within 200 quid of each other. What does spons say per linear metre? I'm paying 20
