David Beecroft Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Hi everyone, I'm David I'm about to embark on a new renovation project. The property is a 1960's school janitors bungalow. Its brick and block construction with well proportioned rooms. At present it's still sporting the original flat roof, mostly original internal joinery. The electrics and plumbing appear to have been updated. The plan is to build a pitched roof , hopefully with integrated PV units and renew all the internal 2nd fix joinery. My history is having renovated several properties over the years while living in them. In 2006 I did a selfbuild chalet bungalow in which we still live. By joining the forum I'm hoping to pick the brains of you all regarding best places to purchase materials. At the same time if I can contribute to the pool of knowledge and wisdom I'll be pleased to do so. Looking forward to getting involved. David
Russell griffiths Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Funny how they built them with flat roofs, I remember the caretakers place at my old school. Loft trusses and a crane will transform the place in a few days.

David Beecroft Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 Thanks, I’ve been out of the game for a few years. I’m sure a few things have changed in the meantime , building regs, materials, technology etc. We’re always learning.
