Wazza
Hi ive just got plans passed for my extension and wanted to order the materials but not sure what sort of blocks to use, on the plans it says on the blockwork inner leaf section ‘ masterblock lightweight aggregate solid concrete blockwork’ are these the thermalite blocks or just solid dense concrete blocks?? PeterW
Standard 7N medium weight is fine for that. What’s the insulation spec..?
Wazza
Not sure but it only has 50 mm ecotherm insulation in cavity
PeterW
How does that meet regs ..?? At that you’d be cheaper just using full fill batts
wozza
Is that 50mm PIR insulation in a 100mm cavity? If so then as PeterW has said it would be cheaper and better insulated with full fill cavity batts. Try this: https://www.cba-blocks.org.uk/u-value-calculator/ I am using Plasmor Fibolite blocks and 100mm Dritherm 32 insulation.
