Hi, I have an issue and can't understand what to do. I recently paid a builder to install new floor in the whole house (old floor was old laminate, new floor is hardwood oak). After they finished the work I noticed that when walking in certain areas the floor makes a popping sound as if there is a bubble underneath. Noise is very loud. I addressed this to the builder asking to fix it but he blamed the hardwood that creates this noises, not the installation but I am worried is actually the installation that wasnt done properly. I dont know what thry did,I think they glued only the edges together and then they glued it to the edges to the rooms. I would like to know is some of you could advise on how a proper istallation should be done to the underfloor..? It feels the underfloor is not level in some areas Thank you!

OK so finishing up my kitchen plan at the mo. Costs are as ever a focus, and as much as I'll likely just be going to Howdens for the cabinets, doors, and standard worktops, I also need a 2m breakfast bar in something hardwood. I'm not convinced Howden's product is brilliant in price (or maybe even quality?). Do the collective have any local recommendations for a 2m x 950 x 40mm butchers block? I see a couple of the GB suppliers are happy to courier and for almost reasonable money but would be worried that it's unlikely to arrive in good shape...

Hello, I'm after some guidance on how best to proceed renovating some nice parquet flooring. My goal is to get the parquet flush with the Forbo layed in the hallway and restore it to a great condition. The build up is concrete with what looks like a bitumen adhesive. Wondering if I lift the floor and pour screed or can build up by laying chipboard at the necessary thickness then re adhere the parquet, sanding, filing then finish. I've attached a couple photos and thanks in advance! James
