  1. Thanks. I am pretty sure its ducted but will give the rod a go. We had wasps in that airbrick last summer. What if i did something like the this pic with an Aco corner unit (or similar) running round the airbrick - would this be an option ? Thanks
  2. the building you see in the pic is an extension. Built before we moved in. It has a concrete floor which I am sure of the older part of the building is suspended timber flooring so I assume there is some ducting from the air bricks into the older part of the house
  3. Yes the paving will be at a slight gradient away from building
  4. And not put an aco in ? the dpc is fine - 150mm above the patio floor
  5. Hi I’m just in process of digging up for a new patio. Ive started levelling out to 2 bricks under the dpc but trying to work out what best to do with these air bricks at the back. if I fit my aco drain it will come roughly half way up the air brick. Will this cause any issues in air circulation or given the fact there is some air flowing through it should be ok? Pic attached
  6. Yep that’s what I’m doing 👍
  7. Yep that’s what I’m doing - GSE in trays
  8. I’m having a re-roof and installing PV. Andy advice on brand of tile to get? currently I have rosemary’s on a 1930s house - semi. And noticed a few leaks which I have had to deal with. Now decided to take the jump and reroof while having the PVs im after a flat plain grey tile. I’ve had recommendations for crest tiles or mini stone walls. What I don’t understand is that the crest is 5kg each and mini stone are under 2kg?? Same size what do you guys advice for ?
  9. Interesting !! Thanks for the feedback - looks as if there’s some science to it !!
  10. This might sound like a daft question so please bear with me !!! I had my UFH commissioned a few months and so far loving it. I’ve been trying to understand gas usage and how that differs if different zones are on? Currently we have 4 zones but given we are usually in just one zone most of the day, that one is on most of the time. the problem comes when child no1 wants to go and play in another room - it’s cold and takes a while to heat up. So my question is - if I just whack all zones on all at the same time, does that use more gas or does it just use the same amount of gas and flow is restricted as it’s going to more places so takes longer to heat. i an not technical and prob a daft question so just wanted to know!! thanks
  11. hi - its c1930s and as far as I can tell there is only one drain service that runs outside the side of the house
  12. Hi Hope this is the right place for this Got an issue with the waste pipe from shower and bath in that the waste water (not poo or pee) will travel down the pipe and just overflow where it is positioned on the gulley and thus floods the garden. The drain is running fine by the way and not blocked. video attached which probably explains a a lot better. But been getting different advice from the trades - one guy quoted £300 to sort whereas another just said get a 45d bend and you will be done any suggestions ? IMG_0781.MOV
  13. Yes that’s correct - nothing happens on the flow meter when I twist it clock or anti clockwise
  14. do you just have it on all day then?
  15. No issue with the heating
  16. Yes I’ve got all the measures but when I twist the flow gauge there is no change on the flow rate. Just to confirm I turn it clockwise to decrease the flow right?
  17. I don’t really know how these things work but I opened another zone and the flow for that went straight to 5 and the other 3 loops which were open went down to 3 automatically - is that normal?
  18. hi - yes I can confirm they all go back to zero when I switch off the ufh. does anyone know the make of the manifold? Can’t see a manufacturer name on it unfortunately
  19. Hi Been trying to figure out how to change the flows on my manifold for a while now and whatever I do they don’t budge. Concerning the pic attached I got 3 loops for one zone. Each loop is around 90m. I thought rule of thumb is flow rate is run size divided by 40 so flow should be around 2.5ish ive turned the flow gauge clockwise a couple of times but not moving at all. Any other suggestions? The rooms heat up fine but take a while like with any ufh system.
  20. Hi l have had wet UFH installed and now trying to get my final finished floor as close to the threshold of my patio door. as I will be laying karndean the suggestion is that I build this up using plywood but worried it will impact on performance of the UFH. It is potentially a build up of 20-25mm. thanks
  21. Might be a dumb question but can you tile over plywood? Looking to put porcelain tiles in the bathroom which has a plywood sub floor.
  22. Completely unrelated to this - what did you use to close off the cavities ?
