Hi, I am after some advice please...... I have planning permission granted but at the 11th hour have decided to extend part of the building slightly by 1m. The change has been submitted as a non material change and I see no reason why it will be rejected? (I hope)! My builder is due to start so I am wondering if I continue to dig the foundations and install the slab with the proposed 1m extension will I get into any trouble? Or, should I just wait? TIA

Hi, I’ve read and learnt some great stuff on here about my foundations and trying to eliminate the cold bridge at wall / floor junction. I have decided to use Marmox Thermoblock as the final course to fix my sole plate for the SIP panels to. Has anyone here done this and how did they find it? Was the SIP company happy about fixing to them? Many Thanks, Ryan

Hi Oranjeboom, Did you use Marmox Thermablock for your sole plate to be fixed to and did you also apply external insulation to the sole plate? Do you have any photos of this that you can post? I am building with SIPS and about to do the foundations, read some threads on here about sole plate condensation, my design maybe old hat so would be good to see or have advice from someone who has done it. thanks!

my main concern is condensation / rotting of the sole plate. I added the marmox block myself from reading posts on here. what ways can it be improved?

Architecht originally had 80mm but UFH company stated 100-150mm so perhaps best to go 150mm? regarding the cold bridging at sole plate i have read the forum on this and there is a lot of talk about using marmox blocks to prevent this, is this right? also should I put insulation on the outside of the block work up or over sole plate?

Hi, I am building a house using 172mm SIP’s. My foundations are due to be done in two weeks, I’ve done a lot of reading on this forum and have come up with this drawing. What are peoples thoughts and are there any changes I should make? TIA, Ryan
