  1. I have head that you must put mortar between the blocks for the concrete piers? is that what you did?
  2. Wat were your support piers?
  3. I am trying to go down the same path, managed the PP drawings and now looking to build temp accomodation on site, what did you guys do or was it close to home?
  4. I have gone down this route and forgone the timber base for exactly those reasons.
  5. Thanks, i was reading your blog on your site and its its interesting. DId you do all teh work yourself? its what i am looking to do and i like your PP plans, didi you DIY them?
  6. was thinking of ground screws as a foundation but then thought of sitting the mobile home on peers and using anchoring points
  7. I was looking at ground screws but the ground is glacial till under the top soil so that seems liek a no no. have you used them before?
  8. Ohhh thats a really good idea. love chatting on this forum. thanks for the info
  9. Thanks i am thinkig of just laying a slab, but i have come across these as its a high wind area such as the gripple anchor?
  10. You are in the boat in which i first sailed. ... and still am. My back ground is teahcing and engineering but nothing todo with buildings per se. As yourself i have carried out most of my own work (including plastering). One of my favourite finds was the https://www.gov.uk/guidance/building-regulations-and-approved-documents-index it covers all the technical aspects fo everything! its a bit of a read but i am on teh isle of lewis and just about to start to build a mobile home.
  11. I was more concerened with the leveled area becoming very wet or even standing water. I was givingthought. to digging a few feet down next to teh location of the slab and usiing a pump.
  12. Thanks, thats defintely on the list
  13. Oh thanks for that, i think as stated earlier i will negate the 160mm pipe connection and get an approved contractor to connect to the man hole. It is a steep learning experience!
  14. Ah thats a shame, well i shall stick to doing teh excvations and connnecting all the pipe work, thanks for the info
  15. Yes its in the ground. i thought mayeb something like this would reduce the amount of excavation needed. Its a pretty straight forward connection. 600mm trench. 1 in60 drop straight to the manhole
  16. Thanks, what would be the easiest way to compete the task? is an internal drop still viable?
  17. Hi all, what would you recommend as to the most effcient and easiest way to connect to a 160mm pvc maiin with a 110mm soil pipe that complies with water board inspection critera? a link to a product would be great as (a long time aago for me) i think we used saddle connectors but i assume tech has changed but then old is gold! Thanks all Regards fiaraz
  18. Good morning all. I am laying a new soil pipe system and i would like to know what you guys would prefer to connect to and why. I have the choice of 160mm PVC pipe or a manhole? Thanks in advance. Regards fiaraz
  19. Good morning all, I have a few questions regarding a raft foundation. I am building a temporary structure in the fom of a mobile home whilst i get the main construction underway. The site is exposed and in the windiest area in Europe as such instad of piers i decided on a raft foundation. it is a 3.6m by 12 m raft andin my head a simple 100mm concrete slab would do. It will sit on glacial til so the need for hardcore may not be needed. So to my questions. 1) What alterations to the simple slab would you make? 2) the top soil has poor drainage, i was thinking of placing a simple draininage trench on two sides to drain away the water prior to laying the slab. If you have any links to documentation, videos or advice that would be great. Regards fiaraz
  20. As an update, a disconnection chamber in scotland is a standard inspection chamber and is the point at which the responsibility for piping belongs to scottish water.
  21. as an update, The approved document is perfect. National BIM library does not contain either an inspection chamber nor disconneting chamber. Love the site that tells you the difference between Ic and DC but you cant buy them!
  22. that makes sense,i have come across a one way valve that can be attached to an inspection preventing back flow in case of flooding or bacl flow from scottish waters side.
  23. Thanks thats so much help i have been googling alsorts of things and just been going insane!
  24. Good morning, I am laying out the design for a new build connection to.a main sewer line that runs on my land. Its 160mm uPVC and i shall be connecting with a standard 110mm soil pipe. I am only applying for the building regs as opposed to carrying out the actual work. I undestand all the componenets except for one, i have been asked to place a disconnection chamber into the design near the main swere pipe yet i do not seem to ba able to locate that specific componenet. Is that the same as an inspection chamber? or does it have a different name? Regards fiaraz
  25. Being exceptionally bored and frustrated with lockdown i have goven myself a few tasks that i just would not take on myself(old dog, new tricks) I managed to design, apply and succesfully obtain planning permsiion for a new build of my own design. So now i am applying for building regs to attach a sewere connection to a static caravan onsite. So to my questions. 1) how deep must the gravel be around the soil pipe? 2) does any onw know of revit families that conatin uk spec soil pipe componenets? 3) is an insection chamber the same as a disconnection chamber? Regards and thanks hive mind.
