  1. Thay'll be the one then. They're blooming expensive but it saves central heating.
  2. Did someone say you can't heat through MHVR? According to my PHPP designer (Oh yeah money to burn) you can.
  3. Jack which system did you use?
  4. There' no stud work on my first floor, it's just one (6.5x9.5m) open plan room. MBC passive frame walls. I don't want any boxing in if I can help it. If I have to run ducting I'd prefer to make something of it.
  5. Yet another rum one from me. Our living room is upstairs and the roof is self supporting without trussess or beams. To fit MVHR we'd need some sort of cavity or boxing for the ducting unless someone knows of ducting that doesn't look pug ugly. I was looking at copper with would be nice but I'm not sure what effect that would have on the heat?
  6. Micro Climate isn't something I'd considered. The south coast Bognor to Littlehampton is quite unique. The Isle of wight seems to effect the cloud mass and send half west to Chichester and half East to Littlehampton, it can be raining at both but yet in the middle from Bognor to Elmer it's Sunny. I think better speak to the PH designer. By the way has any one heard or dealt with "The Healthy Home"?
  7. Jack. Here's where we are. (sory I haven't had time to read all the replies yet.) I've done several renovations, large and small extentions with and without contractors. The house has been designed by a Passive experienced Architect. MBC to supply the passive foundation and the frame, the designs are currently with MBCs engineers. Work on construction Mid to late Nov (I believe). Roof is standing seam zinc as is first floor cladding. Ground floor walls render or brick slips or something that won't turn green (we are 100 metres from the shore, losts of moisture and SW winds). Solar roof panels. The above is pretty much a given. Quotes from pasive window manufacturers and those close or better but without certification. Heating built into MVHR or I have a two year old Valiant condesing boiler from the demolished house. The plans are posted elsewhere on here. Sorry pushed for time this morning.
  8. The architect has suggested I use a Passive designer his quote which was for everything and worst possible scenario was £15k. Like I say it included everything but it seems a lot to me £7k was set aside for Passive checking by Warm and airtesting etc. I could do a lot with that £15k
  9. As we are getting to that point in the build. Should I be Certified (if you know what I mean).
  10. Rational were the cheaper. Did anyone look at Origin?
  11. No, they aren't identical and Internom include £6000 for fitting and the spec is different, £6000 different I don't think so?
  12. I'm gob smacked at the difference in quotes from Rational to Internom £10k difference.
  13. So far only Ideal Combi have quoted and they're not passive certified. Has anyone achieved Passive Cert with windows that have passive figures but no cert?
  14. Ian, I will send the wife up with her broom. Not sure what you mean about the Loo. Personally I'd get rid but the Mrs wants it there.
  15. Dudda that's not a bad idea thanks. Tennents Lager. There is no comparison with any of the houses around it. All of the other buildings are hideous to say the least. Ferdinand. I was thinking about making the entire roof solar panels. I'm not sure I like the clamp fitting system for standing seam roofs. Planning in the Arun area is a nightmare. We have a retirement apartments to the north and east. The daughter of one of the resident as stirred up so much trouble telling the old folks that out building in 15m high (9m in reality on the first application) the figure on the plans from Datum. The council approved the plans but there had been 28 comments against. It went to the planning Committee and the planning officer just sat there and let this horrible woman lie. We tried to defend our project with the true dimensions but the Councillors (one in particular) had been knobbled. In the end the Councillors went to site and refused planning on neighborly development grounds. We withdrew the application and started again. It was the same with the new application but we lowered the roof height to 8.4 metres. Planing was approved but with the conditions that we make certain windows opaque. Please see original plans attached. All the complaints came from flats to north but the planners decided this on the grounds that it was protecting the privacy of future occupiers. I decided to change the windows to walls as in the above plans. We went for a variation of condition application and the planners sent it, erroneously (their word) to the planning solicitor who despite saying this was nothing to do with it, posted a letter on application site saying he would refuse to approve the V of C. The Parish council have now voted to also block the V of C and want use to withdraw the application and reapply as they want to see the amendments which, are on the application site but the PC appear to be blind. Arun planning are ruling that the condition be accepted and are briefing the Councillors today prior to the Committee meeting on the 23rd of August. I'm so fed up with this whole thing now I wish I'd never started and probably won't want to live in the house once built (if ever). I don't trust any of them and I'm now contemplating appointing a planing legal consultant to review both applications and V of C. Sorry this is a bit long. Someone is pulling strings but I can't prove anything. 512-1-002-ProposedFloorRoofPlans-3.pdf
  16. We are going full certified.
  17. Having read some of the comments on windows I think this maybe a very complicated area. Who can you recommend and who do I avoid? Thanks G
  18. No problem I'll be in the Cabin Pub Elmer at 6pm.
  19. Jeremy Harris filled me in on the Shenanigans. As requested plans are now on the appropriate page.
  20. As requested here are the plans. The red clouds on the profile plan south side show where we've had to remove windows because Arun Council don't have the balls to say no to the nimbies to the North even though it has no direct effect upon them. 512-1-002-ProposedFloor&RoofPlans-5.pdf 512-1-001-A-ProposedBlockPlan-5.pdf 512-1-004-ProposedElevations-6 (003).pdf
  21. So this where everyone has been hiding. Hi I'm Graeme and was part of the old forum. It's probably at least a year and a half since I posted or questioned anyone about my Passive build on the South Coast. It's taken this long to get planning and we are still waiting for certain conditions to be removed. I won't say too much but Arun Council will not be on my Christmas list.
