Hi Guys We have an old heating pipe which runs around the outside edge of our house, under the floorboards. We’ve discovered test it is lagged in Asbestos and a survey has identified Crocidolite, Amosite & Chrysotile on the pipe and in the surrounding soil samples. We’e now waiting for a contractor to come to take a look. In the meantime I’m wondering what the likely remedy will be? Will it be necessary to dig up and remove the soil too? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Robert

they missed the openings not me Thankfully they have thought better of it and stood by their mistake. Guess the story about not being able to lower their price was a fairy tale

Hi Guys Looking to buy approx 50 Rationel Ali clad windows for fitting in Sussex in March. Had a quote (via Rationel) from a dealer near me (not the closest one) The dealer made a mistake on the quote by missing off some openers and says I now need to pay extra as Rationel won’t let them sell for less than their regular price. This smells like price fixing to me. I am therefore wondering if anyone has ever contacted multiple Rationel dealers for pricing? Thanks

Project complete ! opted for wall mounted vanity basin and wall mounted wc Just need to find a suitable lid for WC housing
-
looks like vanity unit is the best option all round.
-
the BIG problem with that is that I’ve 3 bathrooms to do. Looks like I’ve found a nice high gloss white wall hung vanity unit with a ceramic sink AND it is the perfect height to fit above my tile shelf so no extra boxing required
-
the boss doesn’t like them
-
The semi pedestal would hide the trap and tap connection better I think
-
For clarity If we were to use a semi pedestal there would only be a short length of pipe between the boxed in pipes below and the bottom of the pedestal Could make a narrow box from tiles ?
-
How did you cut porcelain Nick ?
-
Does a full pedestal support the weight of the sink? Just thinking that fixing to our stud wall could be simpler than a wall mounted sink
-
we’re working onto an already tiled surface
-
Thanks for all your comments looks like we’ll be going for a full pedestal

Hi Guys Are semi pedestals for wall hung basins open bottomed to enable pipes to enter from below? The tech drawing of the one I’m looking at doesn’t show if it is Thanks

Fixing Wall Mounted Semi Pedestal Basin

Thanks for the suggestions think I may have found this ideal product to do the job https://www.screwfix.com/p/rawlplug-sinkfix-wash-basin-fixing-kit/419gp -
Hi Guys I have a fully tiled bathroom with plasterboard stud walls. Thinking about replacing my existing pedestal basin with a 600mm wide, wall hung semi pedestal basin. The issue is how to fix it securely to the wall without having to re tile. Screwfix offer some toggle fixings that carry 20kg. Would 2 of these on the basin and 2 on the half pedestal be sufficient to carry the weight. Or is there a better solution? Thanks

Was looking at Grohe hopefully they do the same

Hi Guys Thinking if replacing a standard floor mounted wc with a wall mounted one. My only concern is that the soil pipe exits the current pan and passes through the wall directly behind it The wall mounted frame I’m looking at has an elbow fitting on it. Can this be adapted to suit a rear entry pipe ? Thanks

Sealing shower screen
Robert Clark replied to Robert Clark's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
It’s a corned quadrant shower so has two fixed panels and a slider -
Hi Guys Fitting a 10mm glass frameless shower screen. The instructions suggest placing the glass directly onto the shower tray, then silicone seal the exterior edge only. Am wondering if it would be better to placing the glass on a 3mm spacer to create a gap which could be filled with silicone. What would you do? Thanks

I’ve asked them to quote for our new windows. Will be interesting to see how they compare with Rationel -

Robert Clark replied to Robert Clark's topic in Wall Tiles & Tiling
Yes I’m replacing the mixer and head, infact I’m replacing 3 of them. Closer to the time if you let me know what bits you need I can get a quote for shipping -

How did you seal between the panel and the shower tray at the bottom edges?
