  1. Hi all, Thank you very much for the feedback, I see there are many options I can go about, will consider them. FYI, I got a quote back from gennie hire, £133 a week, for fuel consumption 3.5L / h, so need to take this into consideration too.
  2. I see your point, I will have a word next week regarding this, maybe I can get away with it, so we will see. Really appreciate all the feedback guys, thank you so much
  3. Good tips indeed! will make sure I amputate its legs I am near a boat marina, cheap red diesel is not afar.
  4. His requirement (company) is, if there won’t be chance to have temporary electrical supply (distribution board, RCD, 2x32Amp circuits with 2 double sockets each), then he needs a a generator on site (minimum 10kVA generator), I guess the 10kVA requirement is because of these heaters they use on every house they build around the country.
  5. Thank you for the info, so the generators have an "odometer" haha, that I didn't know!
  6. Came upon this: http://www.stuartgroup.ltd.uk/power/generator-hire/standard-generator-hire.php Can anyone comment on their rates? I think Im tired, cant make sense of them!
  7. Hi Peter, We are going Timber Frame, probably didn't mention it, but my solution is turnkey (company comes and do all the work and finishes). Coming on the 2nd of March, watertight a few days after. They will need electricity for all tools, etc, can only get SSE to connect in April, hence the need for a generator (for the tools as mentioned above). Neighbour does not bother if I use his electricity, however having to prepare a distribution board on site off his supply is something I dont feel good about it, so the generator is the solution for power at the moment. So they are crap then!
  8. Yea I figured being Petrol would be cheap. However I wont need it for a long run, so forgetting the petrol/diesel thing, I was wondering if this would be enough (and dont breakdown when mostly needed!!!!)
  9. Sorry i meant one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Generator-8-00Kw-10KVa-Recoil-Electric-Start-Site-Generator-/302218181901?hash=item465d9b7d0d:g:MfgAAOSwo4pYmeCO
  10. gotcha! I did a search on eBay for 10kva generators to buy, as i have no experience with this type of equipment, can one assume that a £1k 8kw generator is crap?
  11. I dont Well ,they say "3 weeks".....lets see
  12. Yea, I agree. I will discuss this, need to get this sorted in 2 weeks time
  13. Thanks for the link not sure if thats an option, will see site manager next week and discuss....they will need for 3 weeks
  14. See above
  15. Whats "MM" ?
  16. http://www.stuartgroup.ltd.uk/power/generator-hire/standard-generator-hire.php Trying to understand their rates!!!!
  17. House builder uses what they call "farm heaters" to dry paint/etc inside the house, hence the need, they use 3 of these consecutively
  18. Hi guys, Could anyone recommend where I could get cheap diesel/petrol generator hire? I will need one for a few weeks (electricity onsite wont be ready until end of March), minimum 10KVA. I was thinking about buying instead of hiring as I have seen rates of over £300 a week which I am finding to be quite expensive! Thanks for your thoughts
  19. So guys, spoke with the case officer. His words: I don’t consider that we can treat this as an NMA, this being because of the height increase and its position adjacent to the boundary and close to the rear of no. 14. We would need to re-assess the impact on no. 14. I think you’d need to re-apply for the same as before i.e. “Application for variation of conditions No. 2 & 7 imposed under planning reference BR/XXX/XX/PL relating to amended plans & by substituting existing garage for a larger garage incorporating cycle storage”. So I will have to re-apply the same way I did to extend the garage size (from 6x6m to 8x6m). Such a shame I didn't think about it back then! @AliG @TerryE Regarding the neighbour on number 14, he only has one obscure bathroom window facing our plot. It is a small window and from previous applications, nothing was considered to impact on them, although case officer wants to re-asses.
  20. You are completely correct and this is what I have always tried to do. As an example, I have a S106 agreement and right before the start of works, I contacted him to make sure they were aware of it and to issue the invoice so I could proceed with the payment. Over 10 days have passed and no invoice yet :-) emailed again and they apologised for the delay and would get it done asap...and still waiting...
  21. Thank you very much for your feedback guys! I am having a word today with case officer, all of the applications I have put in before for my site have always gone to him, so lets see what he says!
  22. Hey all, I was wondering if a "slight" change in roof pitch for my approved garage, would I require a new planning app or an amendment? I was thinking in going from 22° to 32° to get a max 2.3m height from 1.51m as per my approved plans, and use that space for my bass practice room Thanks for your thoughts
  23. I see what you mean, I will take a look at those
  24. Structure only Got a quote for a Timber frame too, one locally, they wanted £9.9k for the structure, delivered and assembled!
