  1. Thanks for your input once again! 20k would probably be fair IF I was that far from the connection point. Also, my local utility won't quote for the connection themselves, you need to get a contractor to do it !! Maybe the reason for the high quote. I am chasing some other contractors to see if I can lower this a bit
  2. Hello Gary, Thanks for your input, please let me know how it goes, if you get a good deal I may as well jump in! By the way, the quotes numbers you got (3100/2083), how big / $ your house is? My build is 180m2 (although 2 properties side by side). I have quoted site insurance from Protek, the most affordable I could find. Cheers
  3. Thank you Always found your posts @ the other forum so interesting
  4. Will take a look Ingenious strategy
  5. Hi ProDave! Plot has already been purchased (foundation work actually starting in 10 days or so).... Yes you are correct, the plot was originally part of no 14, although I have no idea how to find out where they tap into the sewer system....
  6. I'm not really sure where they tap, one could assume that the sewer map provided would not include this. Not sure if I would be able to find out where they connect
  7. Thanks Alphonso!
  8. Hi All, I am at the moment looking for quotes to connect to the main sewer system. I have attached a picture of the local map and have highlighted in green how far we are from connection point, I assume it is about 10-12m away from the plot entrance. I have recently been given a quote or nearly 20k to connect, I am finding this to be quite expensive, claims are they need to dig 4m deep in order to connect. Is this a reasonable price to pay? Can you anyone share some thoughts? A septic tank is not an option as the water table won't allow it as it is quite shallow (about 1mile away from coast) Thanks so much
  9. Hi All, I am about to start foundation works in a couple of weeks and I need to start looking for Structural Warranty as from what I understand, it is a requirement if I ever want to sell the houses in the future as any buyers looking to buy with a mortgage, lenders will require this. To be honest, I was surprised that I had to have this, my House builder (DanWood) provides a “Structural guarantee” of 20 years, but I believe this is not the same. I'm building 2 houses (SIPS based), both of them for my family to live. Building Control has already validated all documentation (I paid for a private BC, London Building Control). Could anyone point out the cheapest/widely accepted providers out there that most lenders would recognize? At the moment I have only quoted for site insurance, also wondering if I get it together would be any cheaper. Thank you all for the support!
